Keningau: A suspect was detained by the Sabah Forestry Department for alleged possession of agarwood and protected animal parts in a raid on a premises in Taman Kota, here, on Jan 11.
Chief Conservator of Forests Datuk Sam Mannan said some equipment believed used for harvesting agarwood were also confiscated in the operation following a tip-off. He said increased public awareness through media publications encouraged people to help the department in tackling the menace.
He urged the public to continue playing their role in assisting the department, especially pertaining to stealing of agarwood from the forests in the State.
“Efforts will be made to reward whistle-blowers of any illegal activities involving agarwood,” he said.
